Farrer Drawing

Farrer Pencil Sketch

Description:

I acquired the pencil sketch (labeled Farrer) in a portfolio of miscellaneous paper items at an estate sale in Trenton, New Jersey.  I have been able to locate a reference to the sketch on page 159 of a book called The New Path by Linda Ferber in which the sketch is described as "unlocated".  The sketch was made in 1859 (as dated) by Thomas Charles Farrer, and the subject is John Henry Hill (the similar sketch in The New Path is of his father, the artist John William Hill).

Deck Chair

Description:

This deck chair has been in our family for more than 30 years. My parents acquired it in Georgia from an antiques dealer, who told them it came from a German cruise liner.  The caning in the seat is not original, but the piece is in very good condition.  There is an inscription on the headrest, “Seereise-Comfort-Gesellschaft.” Next to this is a small card holder, where a guest could reserve his seat.

Gravy Boat

Description:

This is a gravy boat made by HAUTIN& BOULENGER, 1804-1974, by CHOISY-LE-ROI from France. An antique dealer said it looks like it was buried for years because of the stains on it, but no one can seem to identify the gravy boat.
